I, Gary Smiddy, would like to
thank the citizens of Defiance County
for this opportunity to announce my
intention that I hereby declare and
desire to be the candidate for the
nomination to the Office of the Sheriff
of Defiance County, Ohio as a member of
the Democratic Party.
I truly believe that running for
Defiance County Sheriff is my true
calling as I have found opportunity
through adversity. My message is that WE
as citizens and electors alike of
Defiance County have inadvertently
silenced the VOICE of democracy for the
said local county government position in
the Office of the Sheriff for nearly a
quarter of a century with the absence of
a viable candidate for opposition
against the current incumbent. I feel
that it is my duty and would be a great
privilege and honor to represent YOU as
that new VOICE of Democracy in our local
county government as political
sovereignty, equality and liberty is
restored.

Gary Smiddy, further declare that if elected to this
office or position of Sheriff of Defiance County, I will qualify
therefore and I will abide by the principles emancipated by the
Democratic Party. I plan to operate the Defiance County
Sheriff’s Office through the facilitation of leadership by
organizing and coordinating resources. I am committed with a
guiding vision and purpose through the influence of inspiration
by encouraging others to do the same, which is the opposite of
intimidation and is absent of manipulation.
